Progress In The Studio

Progress In The Studio

The process of moving continues.  If you have moved in the past few years, day, or months, you have my sympathies.  We find ourselves looking for things that we know were packed but cannot find.  Most of the Christmas decorations have been unearthed and put together but I still have not found my Christmas dishes.  Yes, I am one of those.  Things are coming together, including the studio and here are some pictures of Especially For Ewe’s new home.  Look for studio hours to be announced some time in December.

Plans have been made for our first Thanksgiving in our new home.  I will make the meal for Thursday and Michael is making lasagna for the next day.  Yum.  Along with that lineup are three pies to be made including apple, pumpkin of course, and mincemeat.  If you have never had mincemeat pie, it is a New England tradition.  Michael, his mother and even my parents enjoyed mincemeat pies for Thanksgiving.

Smocking 101

Part IV

Maybe I have not mentioned a pleater as part of the process of smocking.  But it is important.  So here is the question.

What is a smocking Pleater?

A smocking pleater is a machine invented by the Read Company of South Africa in the 1950's to make pleats for smocking. It takes fabric that is fed in from the back and pushes it through grooved rollers. onto specially designed needles which are threaded with strong thread..
