While the Christmas season is being advertised in most places, let’s not forget Thanksgiving. This is and has always been one of my favorite holidays. Not just for the food but for the coming together and remembering all that we have to be thankful for. Michael and I have so much to be thankful for this year beginning with our new residence. When we got married, we were living in an apartment. There were 5 of us including 2 cats and a boxer but we managed while Michael was searching for a job matching his skills. Well, the job has been given to us as well as this house that we are making it into our home. The Saturday before we were to move to Roanoke, our boxer, Rocky, crossed the Rainbow Bridge. We both wish our boxer could be here with us, the back yard was chosen specifically for him. He is in our hearts even though he is not with us. There are a lot of adjustments going on in our lives right now but we both feel so blessed.

What is traditional smocking?
Smocking is a traditional embroidery technique that gathers fabric together into tight pleats so that it can stretch and return to its gathered shape. It is often used as a form of decoration on a garment, as the gathering of the material and stitches can be formulated to create patterns.
